BHA’s Role in Europe

The BHA Continues to Play a Vital Role in Europe

Since 2012 aviation regulation in the UK has been governed by European Law and this law is drafted by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).

This law is then enforced by the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).  The BHA represents its members’ interests with EASA, normally through the European Helicopter Association (EHA), and individual BHA members not only chair and participate in EHA working groups, but play a major role in EASA stakeholder committees.  Additionally, the BHA is an affiliate member of the Helicopter Association International (HAI) and a member of the International Federation of Helicopter Associations (IFHA) that facilitate its representation at the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO).  The BHA holds regular liaison meetings with the CAA on behalf of the off-shore, on-shore, and training helicopter industries. Minutes of these meetings are available on BHA members pages.
