2008 Captain Gary Spender The Eric Brown Award for 2008 was awarded to Captain Gary Spender for his work in the field of helicopter safety. Gary is a commercial pilot and IT specialist. Increasingly concerned by the number of fatal helicopter accidents in recent years, Gary launched the internet based initiative ‘Helicopter Safety’ in 2008. http://www.helicoptersafety.org
